Dorine A. “Donnie” Wiebolt

Dorine A. “Donnie” Wiebolt, age 82 of Melrose and formerly of Greenwald passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at CentraCare Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minn. 

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Greenwald with Fr. Mitchell Bechtold presiding. 

Dorine Ann Sand was born Dec. 22, 1934 in New Munich to Henry W. and Cathryn (Nefzger) Sand. She attended country school and graduated from Melrose High School with the Class of 1952. On Oct. 15, 1957, Dorine was united in marriage to Bernard “Bernie” T. Wiebolt. Together they farmed in New Munich for three years. In 1960, Donnie and Bernie purchased a farm in Greenwald. Donnie and Bernie raised their family on the Greenwald Farm. In 2001, they retired from the daily work of dairy farming and continued to live on the farmstead. In 2010, Donnie and Bernie made their home on Birch Lake where their family always enjoys gathering. Donnie was a proud Foster Grandparent at the Melrose E.C.F.E for eight years. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and later St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she truly enjoyed volunteering and being involved. 

Dorine will be deeply missed by her husband with whom she would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October, Bernie Wiebolt of Melrose; children, Karen (Mark) Sunderman of Melrose, Janelle (Brian) Fleischhacker of St. Stephen, Marla Wiebolt (Art Williams) of Robbinsdale and Ted Wiebolt (Melanie Marion) of Maple Grove; five grandchildren Jenna Sunderman and fiancé, Sam Straate, Derek Sunderman, Ryan (Kim) Kortuem, Jake Fleischhacker and Sam Fleischhaker; great-grandchildren, Logan, Kevin and Kamara Kortuem; and sisters, Clara Thull of New Munich and Eleanor Niehoff of New Munich. 

Dorine is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Kate Sand, and her sister, Esther Sand. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to MN Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, MN Ovarian Cancer Alliance, or MN Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.
